Shkodër Crafts Fair

the fairs that exhibit the handicraft products in Albania have a special importance. They have an important role in the promotion of non-material cultural heritage products, as well as stimulating the continuation of the tradition, through inheritance within or outside the family of the bearers, as a result of the latter’s own material incentive. The Shkodër Crafts Fair can certainly be considered one of the most important in the north of Albania. It is organized by the Association of Artisans and Crafts of Albania and has been held regularly since 2010. With a considerable duration, about 50 days a year, it is held mainly in what is known as the pedestrian area of the city of Shkodra on Kolë Idromeno street. Among the many stands that are found every year at the Shkodra handicraft fair, an important place is also occupied by the stands with traditional clothes of the area, which, taking into account the fact that in this fair space is created for the exhibition of tradition in the region of Shkodra, brings abundant information about the wealth this area holds in terms of these garments. Of course, Xhubleta occupies an important place among this tradition, now a tradition protected by UNESCO in
The List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding with International Assistance from the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund . In fact, at the Shkodër craft fair, the xhubleta is exhibited at the stand of File Kola, one of the few mountain women who today possess the knowledge of making this garment so important to the Great Highlands. Ms. Kola makes sure that every year, whenever the fair is held, she exhibits several types of xhubletë created by herself as well as the xhublets inherited in her family.
