Lezha Palace of Culture

The city of Lezha and its surroundings contains a significant number of residents who migrated from the Great Highlands. Consequently, this community located in Lezhë has brought with it its traditions and customs, including the traditional dress of the mountain woman Xubleta. These customs and traditions are represented in everyday life as well as in the cultural activities organized by the Palace of Culture in the city of Lezha. The Lezhë Palace of Culture was established in 1983, since which time it has been performing its function in the organization of artistic and cultural activities. In 2021, it underwent a restoration process, thus creating more dignified conditions, either in terms of preserving the material base, taking into account that the Ethnographic Museum of the city is also located in the same building, or in terms of the preparation of cultural activities . In the fund of the Palace of Culture, 7 xhubleta are currently inventoried, of which 2 are maiden xhubleta and 5 mountain woman xhubleta . For reasons of maintenance, the Palace of Culture has 1 (one) xhubleta of the mountain woman on display at the stand of its ethnographic museum. Also, in order to carry out the cultural activities, organized by the Lezhë Palace of Culture, a dress is also maintained which is worn by the selected participant in the aforementioned activities. Xhubleta is present as the traditional clothing of the local wearers, in the activities held such as folklore and typological festivals, popular holidays, as well as promotional activities of the area’s tradition. The Palace of Culture regularly organizes a series of activities in which Xhubleta occupies a special place, especially after its registration in UNESCO, such as “Sofra Malësore, “Rrno per me tregue”, etc.
