File Kola

File Kola is among the few highlanders who know in detail all the processes necessary to realize a Xhubleta. Born in Kozhnje in Kelmendi, she grew up from a young age in the comfort of nan’s xhublet, i.e. in a family where all the female members, mother and grandmother, dressed in xhublet as well as cut and sewed xhublet clothing. Initially, File Kola learned the ability to make the xhublets by helping her mother and grandmother in preparing some necessary elements for the xhublet, such as spikes, wool preparation, etc. With the passing of time and the gaining of experience as well as the mastery of all xhublet techniques, File Kola begins to realize the first xhublets, no longer as a collective work between her and her relatives, but as entirely her own production. According to File Kola’s own testimony, during her early youth she made the xhublet she would wear as a bride, which would certainly be part of her dowry. As was the tradition of mountain brides, she kept wearing the xhublet, after marriage, for 1 (one) year, while afterwards, due to the government policies of that period, she could no longer wear the xhublet, despite her passion for this dress was not stolen from you. With the change of the system, after the 90’s, File Kola resumed the realization of the xhubleta, while today, she confesses, after the acceptance of the xhublet to UNESCO, there is an increased interest in this clothing even from individuals who do not belong to the traditional community of dress with xhublet. She shows that to work a xhublet is not enough only the desire but also the necessary knowledge as well as the will, since the realization of a xhublet can go up to 4 (four) months. However, she is happy because, as the skill of making xhubletes was inherited from her mother, she was able to pass this skill on to her descendants, who cooperate with her from time to time for the realization of xhubletes.
